Love After

It's 4am and there's one thing that I notice all the time. It's consistent. It's loud but then quiet. It's bright and dull. Your need for love. My need for love. Our need to be loved. In all this I see our lack of knowledge of what it is. Funny thing is we have tendencies, to seek out what we have been missing in people who themselves are already missing.

While they are openly fading into the background we seek what we can't find in ourselves in them.

I'll be honest I lack the ability to be consistent. I lack structure and sometimes I lack the ability to care. So I tend to gravitate towards people who have just that while learning, they have these abilities due to the fact that it's a compensation for some other area that they aren't proficient in. This isn't a way to point out what's wrong in others, but to correct myself. I had to see myself. I had to see what I didn't want to. I realized, love after.

While we're out looking for these missing pieces, realize it's NOT important. Love after you have found yourself. Love after you have been tied to your purpose. Understand that one of the biggest distractions in life is the heart. We're all broken. We all have been hurt and we all have something within us that is yearning to be loved. But what about when we can't see it. Who do we call on to find that ugly piece, hoping that they will love us to the fullest. There's no way we can expect broken people to fix us. So my advice love after.

Love is one of those things that will come looking for you. It'll be there all along. Just patiently waiting and at the same time pulling on you telling you to hurry up. Love is everything that you have hoped for and prayed you were missing and at the same time it's already there.

Remember when mom used to wake you up early and tell you to clean up house on Saturday mornings. That love. It's the discipline and the structure you need to live a productive life. What about when you got a little older and they kept your phone on. That love. That's the need for that communication with you. They desire to always have that place to go to reach you. So I say love after. Love won't leave you so there's no need to worry about where it is.

While we are looking for love, love will be right there waiting for us in hiding sight. We'll lose focus because we can't identify what or where it is. That's when you say love after. Stay connected to your purpose and worry about the rest later.

How do I know? Let's be honest, I'm in the same boat you are. I want what I already have. I find that while I'm looking for love, God's been there the whole time. Truth is, I didn't know Him as well as I thought I did. My lack of knowledge of what Love is, is what drove me away to look for what I already had. I hope to encourage you to find your purpose in line with God, then allow Him to reveal Himself to you. First thing is to focus on who He called you to be, then worry about love. That true love that we all desire. Most used scripture is the one we understand least. I'll give you two.

1 John 4:7-10

1 Corinthians 13:1-7
